BRIEFING
The client reached out to us to develop a brand identity for their new startup, which offers gluten-free dessert kits designed for at-home baking. Specializing in easy-to-make, delicious desserts, the company aims to cater to baking enthusiasts with dietary restrictions. Our task was to create a delicate and subtle brand design, along with high-quality product photography that captures the essence of the kits. The goal is to establish a brand that resonates with health-conscious dessert lovers and conveys the joy and satisfaction of baking from the comfort of home.
NAMING
The name “La Dolčatina” is a new word that comes from a blend of Dolča Esperanto’s word for sweet and Spanish diminutive. They are used as an expression of affection or endearment or to modify size. Because a small whim doesn't hurt anyone. The tagline, "Gluten-free little whims," further emphasizes the concept of healthy indulgence in small, manageable portions.
VISUAL CONCEPT
The entire visual concept revolves around black-and-white photography of natural elements and textures, serving as a backdrop for bold, centered text that enhances the brand's image. Generous white space allows the brand and text to breathe, creating a sense of timeless elegance.
Additionally, a soft color palette of pale pink and green reinforces the brand’s sweetness and natural essence.
LOGO
The logo combines delicacy with boldness. Using the font Canopee -designed by Violet & Jamie, is a high contrast serif font inspired by the 60’ New York shop signs- as inspiration, a fine tunning took place to improve legibility and make the logo look harmonious, every line, curve and space was adjusted to find the perfect balance. Finally, the inverted circumflex accent works almost like a ribbon to the naming, adding expresión to the logotype.
PHOTOGRAPHY
The art direction for La Dolčatina's product photography centers around the concept of "yummy exquisite patterns."
Ingredients are artfully arranged around or integrated into the desserts themselves, creating visually appealing and mouthwatering still life compositions.
This unique approach highlights the quality and freshness of the ingredients while adding a playful and artistic touch to the brand's overall aesthetic.
This interplay of delicate flavors, sophisticated visuals, and playful presentation positions La Dolčatina as a unique and desirable option for those seeking a gluten-free, gourmet dessert experience.
